Katz gets her way

Katrina Kaif may seem like the sweet sorts but when it comes to roles, the actress who’s consolidated her position at the BO, is quite demanding.

The story goes that Katz had earlier agreed to play the lead role in Abbas Mustan’s remake of The Italian Job opposite Abhishek Bachchan. But now, after a string of hits, the gal developed second thoughts over the length of her role in the film. Apparently, she asked the directors to increase the length of her role in the film, and keeping Katz current position in mind, the duo have agreed to do that. Now, Katrina’s role will not just get bigger, she will get to do a lot of action sequences in the film too. But even with the presence of such biggies, there seem to be more hurdles for the film, as filmmakers have been asked to curtail their budget. But knowing Abbas-Mustan’s penchant for going overboard, they must be wondering how to cut corners!

Filmmakers Abbas-Mustan have cleared the air about rumours that actor Abhishek Bachchan urged them to remove actress Priyanka Chopra from the cast of the Hindi remake of “The Italian Job” saying she wasn’t offered the film at all.”The star cast of ‘Italian Job’ was finalised long time back. We had signed Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif in the first go and Katrina was always our first choice so there was no question of talking to Priyanka Chopra,” Abbas said. “She was never approached or spoken to for this role so how can Priyanka lose out on a role she was never even considered for?”

katIt’s a departure in every which way for this Bollywood actress on the ascendant. She is playing a deglamorised politician and the Hindi has to be perfect too, but Britain born Katrina Kaif says her role in Rajneeti excites her more because she is now comfortable with the language.

Katrina, who has delivered a string of hits playing the urban hip young woman, gets a makeover in Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti. Dressed in cotton saris and speaking chaste Hindi, this is a challenging role that she’s looking forward to. But the Hindi is passe now for the actress, whose accented Hindi meant that her many early films had to be dubbed.

o9i3nyym0yiw7an61vtEnough is enough! Katrina Kaif is done playing the simpering glam doll who does little than flash her smile, romance the hero and dance around in pretty togs. Post the success of New York, which had her showing flashes her acting potential, the gal’s digging for meaty roles.

Little surprise then that she’s having second thoughts about doing Abbas-Mastan’s Hindi adaptation of ‘The Italian Job’. After showing interest in the film, Katrina is rumoured to be reluctant to give her nod because the script doesn’t give her much footage. Unwilling to play an eye-candy anymore, the actress has reportedly asked the makers to flesh out her role better.

katrinakaifKatrina Kaif is reconsidering taking on Abbas Mustan’s remake of ‘The Italian Job’. This is because her role is apparently rather unimportant.

Katrina is having second thoughts about the film since she read the script, even though she readily agreed at first. According to sources, since she started giving hits, she has become picky about her roles and won’t sign on anything just because it has big names. She also doesn’t want to sign on the film because she believes her role has no scope.

5Katrina Kaif’s movies continue to work wonders at the Box Office, so she has turned choosy. She is having second thought about working in director Abbas Mustan’s remake of ‘The Italian Job’ as she doesn’t have a plum role in the project. Initially, she had agreed to do the film but after going through the script, she realized that the role doesn’t suit her. Meanwhile, another cause of worry for the actress is the change of male lead in the film. Since Saif Ali Khan has opted out of the project, Kat’s interest has also diminished, it’s learnt. Incidentally, Sonam Kapoor replaces Katrina Kaif in Farha Khan’s ‘Teen Murti’. Since Farah and Anil Kapoor go back a long way, it seemed logical for Sonam to step into Farah’s domain, especially since she and Akshay have been keen on working together.
