We have all loved Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s pairing in films. Time and again the reel life couple have made us fall in love with love. In fact their jodi is considered one of the most successful jodis of Bollywood. But it seems brit beauty Katrina Kaif is all set to take Kajol’s place!

Kat is being paired with King Khan in two forthcoming films. Yash Chopra’s directorial venture will star SRK, Katrina and Anushka Sharma in the lead. Needless to say, this one will be a classic romance.

Latest development is that Katrina is also being considered to star opposite SRK in Rohit Shetty’s next. Katrina will however have to fight it out with Kareena Kapoor, a Rohit Shetty favourite, before she bags the coveted project.

Speaking to a daily, a source close to Rohit revealed, “Katrina Kaif is at an all time career high. Currently, she is working with the three biggest Khans – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir. Rohit Shetty’s action film that goes on floors in May next year will be her fourth consecutive film with a Khan.”

Though Rohit has approached Katrina, Rohit is also contemplating on casting Kareena. And why not? Kareena is also having a successful run at the BO and her pairing with SRK in ‘RA.One’ has been much appreciated.

“Kareena has worked with SRK in ‘Asoka’ and ‘RA.One’. She shares a good on-screen chemistry with him. Also, director Rohit Shetty is very fond of her. She has been his chosen one for the successful Golmaal franchise. She is the obvious choice for the project,” said the source.

Industry insiders feel that Katrina’s friendship with Rohit might just pay off. “Katrina is working with SRK in Yash Chopra’s film. She has become good friends with the actor as well. She might have been recommended by him as well,” added the source.

Rohit Shetty had initially planned to re make 1982 classic ‘Angoor’ with SRK but after the success of ‘RA.One’ SRK has shown keen interest in doing an action film.

“When Rohit decided to make an action film with Shah Rukh, he decided to change his heroine as well. Earlier he wanted Kareena to portray the role played by Moushumi Chatterjee in the original ‘Angoor’. But with the change in the script, he decided upon Katrina Kaif,” revealed another source.

Looks like another hit jodi is in the making! Wonder what ‘good friend’ Salman has to say about all this.

Ever since actor Katrina Kaif has been confirmed for Dhoom 3, there has been much speculation about her donning a bikini for the film, as had the actresses in the previous two installments. But while, there’s no confirmation about Kat sporting the bikini avatar, insiders do reveal that she will definitely be seen showing off her a super-toned hotbod in the film. A source says, “She may or may not be wearing a bikini, but she will need to look her toned best, as the franchise is high on the ultra-glam looks of the actors as well.”

Katrina is well aware of it, but since she has been rushing from one film to another, she has little or no time left to actually concentrate on her work-outs.

According to a source, Katrina has been so busy that she has not even had time to enjoy the successes of her own recent films including Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

“She has been shooting back to back since the past several months now. But her role in Dhoom 3 requires her to look her fittest best and so she’s started working out during her outdoor schedules itself,” says the source.

However, an insider reveals that she is into light exercising and not heavy training. “Katrina wants to tone up her body for Dhoom 3, and luckily for her she is already in good shape. She anyways hates vigorous workouts or starving herself to acquire a lean body or look sexy, so she is just exercising regularly and going in for a healthy diet instead.”

The B-Town hottie had apparently started to work on her bod right when she was shooting with Salman Khan for Ek Tha Tiger in Dublin. “There too she would exercise regularly, eat loads of fruits on time, instead of starving herself and she has also been drinking a lot of water. She is trying her best to catch up on sleep as well,” informs the source, adding that apparently she has also been getting a lot of tips from Salman on the same. “Yes, Salman has advised Katrina to cycle and swim to tone up without hitting the gym to get an overall lean and well-toned body,” says the source.

According to an insider, “From now to that film, she is unlikely to get any time off for herself anyway, as soon after she wraps up Ek Tha Tiger, she’s expected to begin work on her film with Shah Rukh Khan,” says a source.

Interestingly, the film — which also stars Aamir Khan as the baddie — will be her fifth movie with Aditya Chopra’s production house.

“She’s become quite a favourite with the production house as she’s been signed on for four back-to-back films with them. Her professionalism of not letting her personal life interfere with her professional one is what seems to work in her favour too,” says an industry observer.

Professionally this could well be actress Katrina Kaif’s best phase as she has her hands full with projects with practically every actor in the industry.

The actress has signed a lot of films and is on an absolute roll but she hasn’t taken a break since a very long time.

Katrina is a self-proclaimed workaholic and takes pride in being one as well. She has been shooting for her projects back-to-back since the past few months, even as people around her have been asking her to take it easy.

A source close to her says, “Kat is very professional when it comes to her film commitments and is particular that she doesn’t upset any schedules. There have been times when she has gone out of her way to accommodate her dates for a particular film. She has been wanting to go to London and spend time with her sisters and family but then she hasn’t been able to find time for that at all.”

The source also adds that Kat who after completing the promotions of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, flew to Bangkok for an ad shoot on the same day. After that she returned and immediately headed for her next movie shoot to Dublin. It isn’t just this year that the actress is flooded with work, she has three big releases next year with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, one of which she is currently shooting for in Dublin.

Why is it so that every second big budget film these days stars either Kareena Kapoor or Katrina Kaif?

About a year ago, this platform had been noticeably broader, including Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Kangna Ranaut. The rest of these names still maintain their positions as the top names of Bollywood, but have been left far behind by the leading Queen B’s. Let’s see why this is so:

The ‘heroines’

The way Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are battling it out right at the top, one wishes that it stays so forever! With both ladies writing and rewriting records with their big-budget, over Rs 100 crore successes, its the top producers who are laughing all the way to the bank.

While Kareena is gaga with the laurels she received from the success of ’3 Idiots’, ‘Golmaal 3′ and ‘Bodyguard’ in quick succession, Katrina knows she is on the dot, with a chartbuster item number like ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and the good run of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ on the box office. She now needs a big budget hit like Kareena to reach to the top.

Speaking of future projects, both the actresses have several films lined up with the Khans. ladies have scored the cream However, when it comes to getting the top projects, both Kareena as well as Katrina are pretty much neck to neck. Both of them are enjoying a piece of each of the Khans. In the bargain, Shah Rukh Khan (‘Ra.One’, an untitled film with Yash Chopra), Aamir Khan (‘Dhuaan’, ‘Dhoom 3′), Salman Khan (‘Bodyguard’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’) as well as Imran Khan (‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’, ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’) are enjoying the best of both worlds. Only Saif Ali Khan (‘Agent Vinod’) has placed his loyalities firmly with Kareena.

Many names, including top international ones, were considered for the coveted role of the screen queen opposite bad-boy Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3.

Finally it’s Katrina Kaif, after all, who has bagged the prized part.

Katrina, it must be remembered, was Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s first choice for the part. But the actress, hell bent on building on her wholesome image, had major misgivings about some of the things that the role required from her. There was the mandatory girl-in-a-bikini Dhoom shot.

With her new policy of no kissing and no exposure, Katrina begged off the role. Says a very reliable source, “Katrina very clearly told her dear friend Aditya Chopra that she would not be comfortable doing some of the scenes. Aditya told her she was crazy to turn down the chance of playing the Dhoom girl, and that too opposite Aamir Khan, but Katrina is very clear about what she wants to and doesn’t want to do on screen. And nothing could make her change her mind. She suggested that they look for someone else.”

The hunt for Aamir’s Dhoom girl even went international with hot global faces being considered. Incidentally, a couple of A-list actresses got their publicity machinery to plant stories of being chosen for Dhoom 3.

Says a source, “But the first choice, namely Katrina kept coming back to haunt the banner’s casting aspirations. They needed a girl who not only looked hot but also could look extremely homely and wholesome. A combination of Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman, that was the brief.”

Two factors made Katrina change her mind. The first was Aamir Khan. Having bagged a role with Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra’s next, she was keen to be paired with Aamir. And so, we believe, was Aamir.

Finally, there was a long and intense meeting between Katrina and Aditya Chopra just before she left for the shooting of Ek Tha Tiger in Dublin that clinched the matter. Both Katrina and Adi were in high spirits after the success of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

Says a source, “Someone said Katrina was Yash Raj’s lucky mascot. To this she quipped, ‘I really don’t like being called a lucky mascot. It makes me sound like a ghodi at the derby.’ Everyone including Katrina was in the mood to see her say yes to Dhoom 3.”

Apparently, in the meeting Aditya convinced Katrina as to why doing Dhoom 3 at this stage of her career would take her to another level. They spoke about the packaging and the projection. And they also spoke about the scenes that bothered Katrina.

Apparently, the kissing and bikini scenes have been taken care of. Says a source, “The scenes that scared Katrina have not been done away with entirely. But Adi and Katrina met on a middle path. The scenes have been now modified to the advantage of both the parties.”

With Dhoom 3, Katrina Kaif becomes the only heroine in the history of Indian cinema to do 4 back-to-back films with the Yash Raj banner.

Katrina remained unavailable for comment. Apparently, she is using the off-shooting hours in Dublin to get fighting-fit for Dhoom 3. Martial arts and samurai sword-fighting are part of the training for the part.

Katrina Kaif, after going back and forth several times, had finally decided to decline Ayaan Mukerji’s offer to star in his next film opposite Ranbir Kapoor (Mumbai Mirror, 30 July 2011).

While ‘date problems’ and ‘pending projects’ were the major reasons cited for her refusal of the offer, the industry is abuzz with rumours of Salman Khan being the one person behind his ex-girlfriend’s decision.

Katrina, who is busy with Salman starrer Ek Tha Tiger and Yash Chopra’s next directorial venture opposite Shah Rukh Khan was apparently asked by Salman to opt out of Ayaan’s next project with Dharma.

Actress Katrina Kaif is upset with a report that she cancelled the shoot for Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan because her favourite make-up man Subhash was unavailable as he had booked his dates for Anushka Sharma.

Katrina, 27, said people should not pull her down by writing such false stories and should give her respect considering her contribution to the industry.

“That was something really disheartening. I am not that kind of person who ever stood up and says, ‘Look what I have done, look at me’ or asked for any kind of respect or recognition or walked around with any kind of ego.

“But when I see people stoop down to that level and write these kind of stories, that’s the only time I feel that I am not asking for recognition, but a little bit of respect after these years I have worked in the industry. Please don’t pull me down to this level,” Katrina told IANS.

The actress entered Bollywood in 2003 with Boom. Though Boom bombed, she went on to deliver hits like Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, Race and Raajneeti.

Releasing Sep 9, the directorial debut of Ali Abbas Zafar, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a comedy where Katrina is teamed up with Imran Khan and Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar.

The current favourite of YRF, Katrina, will be also seen in their Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan and Yash Chopra’s next undeclared directorial venture opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan. She has teamed up with Anushka in the latter.

“Anushka is a lovely girl, starting off her career now,” she said.

Reigning Bollywood queen, Katrina Kaif has said that it’s easier to work with younger actors as compared to senior actors, Zee News reports. The actress, who made her debut in a film starring Amitabh Bachchan and later went on to star in several films with Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, feels she gels well with younger lot of actors like Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.

In a candid interview to a daily, Katrina said, “I don`t think anyone will mind if I say that it is very different working with older heroes because the age difference is of about 20 years, and just about two to three years with the younger heroes with who you can even do nonsense on the sets.

For instance, Imran would come on the sets, he would kick me playfully. At times there would be nothing constructive what we were doing, there is so much bachpana.” Katrina and Imran star in Yash Raj’s next ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’. Katrina Kaif had to finally turn down good friend Ayan Mukherjee’s untitled film. Ayan, who is close to both Ranbir Kapoor and Kat was very keen that Kat should be a part of the project along with Ranbir.

She was also keen and tried her best to accommodate the dates but it was not possible, since she seems to be on a yo-yo with her two films with the Khans–Ek Tha Tiger with Salman and Yash Chopra’s untitled film with Shah Rukh Khan.

Apparently Karan Johar, the producer of Ayan’s film, sat with good friend Aditya Chopra to somehow get some dates out but it seemed impossible. Finally, Kat had to reluctantly give up Ayan’s project.

Singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar, is fondly called the Prince Of Pop and by some, the Shah Rukh Khan of Pakistan. But these days, the actor is busy wrapping up his Bollywood film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Ask him about his co-stars in the film and he quickly adds, “Katrina is very easy to work with. In spite of being a big star she has no airs about herself. She is like any pretty young girl, a lot of fun and very jovial on the sets, and a thorough professional. Imran Khan is a lot of fun too. And unlike the rumours suggested, we both got along very well and had a blast during the shoots.”

The actor, who shot to fame with his debut Bollywood flick Tere Bin Laden, is now concentrating on his acting career. Besides the Yash Chopra film, he is also looking at a few other interesting projects. Ask him about his rumoured cousin — non other than actor Aamir Khan and he says, “Not at all! I don’t know who started this. He is a very distant relative, in fact from my wife’s side of the family. I’ve met him only twice till date,” he reveals.

Quiz him about his music taking a backseat, and he says, “I practice whenever I can and the one thing that is always with me is my guitar. Music will always be a part of me. I am doing playback singing and my album was just launched. So music can never take a backseat.” Prod him about being called the Shah Rukh Khan of Pakistan and he says, “I’m not Shah Rukh khan. I am an artist in my zone. In Pakistan, music is bigger than films, which is why I’ve been tagged so, but I don’t think so.
