Bollywood’s two leading actors make the most popular pair of today. They have a marvelous onscreen chemistry, and have already delivered three hits out of four films that they have done together. Both started together in the likes of ‘Namaste London’, ‘Welcome’ and then ‘Singh is King’, all under the banner of Vipul Shah. However, the pair will now be seen on the silver screen in Venus Records and Tapes’ owner Ratan Jain’s next multi-starrer titled ‘De Dana Dan’. This is going to be a comedy with a huge cast of seniors including great comedian Paresh Rawal, pretty girls – Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy- and also the tinsel town’s macho man Sunil Shetty! However, Priyadarshan will direct this time as he is known for laughter riot movies.

It is learnt that he will complete the shooting schedule in two months beginning November this year. This is to recall that he had earlier decided to rope in South Indian actress Asin as the lead actress but couldn’t succeed because of her date problem. Without wasting time, he signed on Kaif opposite Akshay Kumar. Industry circles wonder if Akshay Kumar’s actor wife Twinkle would have any personal problem from her husband’s successful chemistry with Bollywood’s number one actress.

Even though Katrina Kaif is fed up of posing as arm candy, she agreed to star in De Dana Dan only because of close friend Akshay Kumar. Ask her why exactly did she agree to star in the film, and Katrina replies honestly, “My reason for accepting this film is only because Akshay asked me if I would do it.”

She adds, “Akshay is a friend and I could never refuse. The two of us have given some of the biggest hits together. When I learnt De Dana Dan is Akshay’s home production (Akshay’s Hari Om Productions is producing the film in partnership with Ratan Jain’s Venus Productions) I said yes without hesitation.”

Katrina, who is quite determined to get her ‘act’ together and be very careful about the roles she chooses now on says that De Dana Dan is the only exception to her new decree. She says, “I have played the arm candy in one too many films in the past.” Remember her successful films like Welcome, Singh is Kingg, Partner and Race?

It was New York that changed her perception. “Post New York, I have Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti where I’m the only girl with superb male actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai, Nana Patekar and Arjun Rampal. It is a performance oriented film for me and that’s the way I would ideally like most of my future films to be,” she adds.

Now that Katrina has set her bar high, she has consciously not signed too many films post New York. However, she is prepared for being overshadowed by De Dana Dan’s starcast, “It has a host of almost 22 super actors. Obviously, there may not be too much of me on screen,” she admits.

Film-maker Priyadarshan made the entire cast of De Dana Dan including Katrina Kaif wait on the sets of his forthcoming venture at Singapore for an entire day. Instead, he decided to shoot with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. When the left out people tried to find out the reason behind Priyadarshan’s decision, they stumbled upon the fact that he had did so to mark the reunion of his Hera Pheri team which has come together for a film after nine years.
A source says, “Priyadarshan was very emotional when the Hera Pheri team shot after nine years. So he decided to dedicate the entire day only to the team of Hera Pheri and not shoot with the rest of the cast. De Dana Dan is almost a full circle for Priyadarshan as he is making another comedy caper with a similar theme and feel with the same cast.”

Producer Ratan Jain says, “Priyan had designed the shoot in a manner that the rest of the cast had a holiday or rest day.”

Priyadarshan adds, “As a team we just took off from where we left. I couldn’t tell if we were shooting Hera Pheri or De Dana Dan.”

The new Barbie Girl Katrina Kaif is riding high on success. This superstar looks glamorous and beautiful. These compliments are falling her way from the onlookers and the Bollywoodwala’s who are keeping a close watch on her every move.

Katrina is making two ends meet with, one being Barbie doll being the most styled and glamorous doll ever present and the other being her d’glam role with ‘Rajniti’. Both these are two ends and Katrina is perfectly balancing both these things. Katrina is always know for her glamour and the way she looks. Even tough in ‘Rajniti’ she didn’t wear a make up her looks were the talk of the town. Onlookers were saying that if Katrina looks so beautiful without the make up then with make up on she would look like a goddess to die for.

However filmmakers who have worked with her say that she is a thorough professional. All those big Directors who have worked with her have gone ahead signing her for her other projects also. This itself is a clear indication that Katrina is not only at the top but also indicates that she is a thorough professional, that’s why directors tend to repeat her.

Ramesh Taurani the producer of Tips film adds, “It’s very difficult to find a dedicated actress than Katrina, She exactly knows what is expected from her and her hard work has in turn returned to her with the tag of “Goddess of luck” She was there with us for Race which became a hit and now we are repeating her for ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’ coz we know that she is the best and its always pleasure working with her. Director Rajkumar Santoshi further adds, “She is a big asset to the movie, her presence on the set itself makes everybody relaxed and even tough she is the no1 star she is hassle free.”

A source close to the unit of ‘Rajniti’ says, “Prakash Jha is so impressed by Katrina’s work in the movie that he is talking and praising about her to everyone he meets.” The source further adds that Katrina would be seen in a no makeup look for her upcoming project Rajniti, Katrina is putting a lot of efforts for the movie an that itself speaks volumes for this professional freak. Katrina never made any fuss over she not being able to apply any make up.”

Ratan Jain the producer of ‘De Dana Dan’ is short of words praising this star. He says, “It’s a privilege to work with a star like Katrina, her presence on screen is surely very lucky. Most importantly he further adds, “The amount of energy she puts into each scene is impeccable and it’s very difficult to find such thorough professional like her.”
