Katrina Kaif and Rahul Gandhi have emerged as India’s most eligible single woman and man in a poll conducted by a wedding portal.

While Gandhi polled 30 per cent votes, Katrina was preferred by 27.5 per cent respondents.

“It surely feels nice to top such a poll. I really hope I will not remain single forever,” smiled Kaif, while reacting to the outcome of the poll by BharatMatrimony. com. She beat Vidya Balan (22.7 per cent votes), Priyanka Chopra (18.7 per cent) and Deepika Padukone (13.3 per cent) to wrest the top spot.

A journalist was today arrested for allegedly preparing fake marriage certificates of famous personalities including Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif.

“The accused identified as Anand Purohit had paid Rs 5,000 to a broker of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) to prepare fake marriage certificates of Rahul, Katrina and Kalawati,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) Jitendra Singh told PTI.

Kalawati, the widow of debt-ridden farmer from Vidarbha, shot to fame after she was mentioned by Rahul in Parliament.

According to the certificates, while Rahul was wedded to Kalawati, Katrina was the wife of a local MLA.

Well, well, well, it looks like little miss Katrina Kaif has just been voted as the most eligible single female, beating out the likes of Bipasha Basu , Deepika Padukone , Kareena Kapoor , Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor. Shaadi.com, a matrimonial website, reported that Kaif received 18,000 votes, 48 percent of them being males of course, in their online pole.

“It’s nice to see the way our members’ preferences for an ideal partner have changed drastically. It’s not just about looks and fashion trends but about power and higher social standing that makes a person more attractive and appealing,” Gourav Rakshit, business head of shaadi.com, is quoted to have said.

The leading matrimonial website ‘Shaadi.com’ conducted an online poll in which after reviewing the responses from over 18,000 netizens, the site declared John Abraham and Katrina Kaif have been voted as the most eligible single celebrities.

In the poll, Katrina bagged in the voted from about 48 percent of males as the most eligible single female and wherein John was named as their favorite eligible bachelor by about 43 percent females.

Following John were other bigtime celebrities like Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Rahul Gandhi, M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, and following Katrina were ladies like Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor.
