Actress Katrina Kaif is upset with a report that she cancelled the shoot for Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan because her favourite make-up man Subhash was unavailable as he had booked his dates for Anushka Sharma.

Katrina, 27, said people should not pull her down by writing such false stories and should give her respect considering her contribution to the industry.

“That was something really disheartening. I am not that kind of person who ever stood up and says, ‘Look what I have done, look at me’ or asked for any kind of respect or recognition or walked around with any kind of ego.

“But when I see people stoop down to that level and write these kind of stories, that’s the only time I feel that I am not asking for recognition, but a little bit of respect after these years I have worked in the industry. Please don’t pull me down to this level,” Katrina told IANS.

The actress entered Bollywood in 2003 with Boom. Though Boom bombed, she went on to deliver hits like Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, Race and Raajneeti.

Releasing Sep 9, the directorial debut of Ali Abbas Zafar, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a comedy where Katrina is teamed up with Imran Khan and Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar.

The current favourite of YRF, Katrina, will be also seen in their Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan and Yash Chopra’s next undeclared directorial venture opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan. She has teamed up with Anushka in the latter.

“Anushka is a lovely girl, starting off her career now,” she said.

Katrina Kaif has signed a Yash Raj project with Imran Khan but when the diva was asked about Imran Khan, Kat said, ‘Who Is Imran?’ as if she has heard the name for the first time. Well, if we remember Katrina Kaif walked out of Sanjay Gadhvi’s film ‘7 Days in Paris’ after the constant interference of Imran Khan in the scripting. And so when the actress was questioned about Imran and the project, she gave an odd answer.

Few days back, it was reported that Katrina Kaif has miffed director Abbas Mustan. They have approached her for ‘Italian Job’ but without informing them, they have signed Yash Raj venture opposite Imran Khan.

Abbas Mustan has given Kat hit film ‘Race’ and they are highly disheartened with her refusal. She is more interested to do Yash Raj banner flick as she is always interested to be a part of the Yash Raj banner.

Well, the news of Katrina Kaif moving out from Abbas Mustan’s remake of ‘Italian Job’ is stale but we bring to you the tale behind this so called betrayal as the industry insiders puts it. The story goes like this……

Katrina signed Abbas-Mustan remake of Hollywood thriller ‘Italian Job’, the London beauty in her Bollywood duty even gave her dates for the film which had Abhishek Bachchan as her co-star. Abbas-Mustan then got busy in finalizing the other details for this big project and it took more time then expected. Meanwhile, many top actress of Bollywood approached Abbas-Mustan for a role in this film but Abbas-Mustan refused saying that Katrina is already finalized.

The twist in the tale occurred a couple of weeks back when the director duo wanted to call Katrina for a pre production work but the actress ignored their calls. Initially, they assumed that she might be busy and waited for Katrina to call back but the call didn’t come. After repeated messages Katrina’s secretary showed up saying that Katrina won’t be able to do their film because she has been signed by Yash Raj for a flick co-starring Imran.

This was shocking to Abbas-Mustan as the movie was scheduled to go on floors in a couple of weeks.

The angry producers are looking for a quick replacement and now we hear that the producers Studio 18 is planning to approach producers association to get the hefty sum they had paid to Katrina as advance.

It must be recalled that Studio 18 are the producers of the remake ‘Italian Job’ and had also signed Katrina before for a flick with Imran Khan titled ‘Seven Days In Paris’ to be helmed by the ‘Dhoom’ famed director Sanjay Gadhvi. The film got shelved as there where some script issues and now their next ‘Italian Job’ is facing problems.

Katrina should have remembered that Abbas-Mustan offered her ‘Race’ which made her beautiful legs stand taller then her contemporaries and the director duo has a good standing in the industry.

When Katrina Kaif appeared on the screen for the first time in ‘Boom’, critics ripped her apart. She was considered to be another foreign export, who could neither act nor dance, let alone speak Hindi. She was criticized for being too fair and too tall.
The film, too, came under the scanner, so much so that actor Amitabh Bacchan who starred in the film was forced to apologise for his role. This was probably the first time in Indian Cinema an actor apologised for agreeing to be part of a film.
Katrina vanished for a brief period, before reappearing in ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’.The film was a romantic comedy and even though Katrina’s sense of style was appreciated, nobody gave her any marks as far as acting was considered.
With time, her acting and Hindi speaking skills improved and she gave one hit films after other which included Namaste London, Race, Welcome etc.People began noticing the glamour and beauty of this British lady and critics were forced to agree that she is box office material.

Katrina Kaif was in a chatty mood at the recently held 55th Filmfare Awards press conference in Mumbai. She was more open and positive with her responses.
When asked if she had watched longtime beau Salman Khan’s last release, Katrina said, “I saw the second half of Veer.” Not only that, she went on to praise her lookalike Zarine Khan in the film.
“Zarine was lovely. She speaks so well in her interviews. She’s supremely confident. I’m very impressed. I wish I’d had that confidence when I started out.”
Katrina adds, “I don’t personally feel I’m hot or sexy. You have to have your appeal. The audience has an opinion of you.” The actress said that “people love Vidya Balan in her ethnic look” and that they associated Katrina Kaif for “fun films”.
Katrina has managed to create a place in the highly competitive and volatile world of Hindi cinema. From being just a chirpy li’l girl in Namastey London, to a shrewd gameplayer in Race, to a terrorist’s wife in New York, to the lovable muse of Ranbir Kapoor in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, she has come a long way.
It remains to be seen how Karina fares in what could be her career-best role in Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti, which releases June 4, 2010.

“I wanna do a classic love story. Something like When Harry Met Sally…,” says Katrina.
The actress has been nominated in the Filmfare Best Actress category for New York, and looks forward to winning it. And like a li’l girl, she’d like to think that her performance was the best. “Can’t I just choose myself?” she asks innocently. But if she has to name someone apart from her to win the award, Kat has not one but two contenders – Priyanka Chopra for Kaminey, and Vidya Balan for Paa. “I absolutely loved Kaminey,” said Katrina.
“I’m very excited to be nominated. I don’t easily win, but I’m excited. Everybody wants to win. I’m so used to not winning,” she signs off.

The race for a role in any movie is always there, and more so in a sequel. This time, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are eyeing the lead role in ‘Race 2′ and are leaving no stone unturned to win the favor of director duo Abbas-Mustan. The movie is scheduled to go on the floors next year. However, the directors aren’t in a hurry to finalize the female lead. They say, “We are at the scripting stage right now. The cast and crew details are yet to be finalized. It will be too early to reveal anything. We will have to look into the dates and availability of the stars,” they add.

Incidentally, the directors have announced that they are retaining the two male actors – Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor – Race’ from the original cast for the sequel of ‘Race’. Filmi circles wonder if the directors would prefer Kareena Kapoor as the leading lady in the sequel because of her beau Saif Ali Khan already in it or let the original heroine Katrina Kaif continue in the movie. Let’s wait and watch.

The sprightly Katrina Kaif has graced the arm of many an older leading man, namely Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Salman Khan. But the young 24-year-old is finally ditching the 40 plus actors for some younger leading men! She has just finished shooting for ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’ with Ranbir Kapoor, and is being considered for Sanjay Gadhvi’s next project with Imran Khan. She’s also in New York with Neil Mukesh. Kaif will team up with Ranbir again for Prakah Jha’s ‘Rajniti’.

Kaif’s first successful movie was ‘Sarkar’ in 2005 where she appeared briefly as Abhishek Bachchan’s girlfriend. Then her next movie was with the 43-year-old Salman Khan in ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’ in 2006. After Khan (whom she’s been dating since 2003), Kaif did Namastey London with Akshay Kumar. In 2008 she appeared opposite yet another older man, Saif Ali Khan, in Race. With so many young men out there, maybe Kaif is finally sticking to her age group.

Katrina Kaif: It is one of the vagueries of the Hindi film industry that an actress like Katrina Kaif, who is born to an Indian-Kashmiri father and a British mother, is right there at the top even though she hardly speaks Hindi. What’s more, she has also done films in Telugu and Malayalam without knowing those languages either! What helps, one supposes is that undoubtedly she is the best looker in the film industry today with a sexy body to match. And also that she has been cast correctly in most of her films as by and large her roles have been fairly undemanding requiring her to look good, wear short dresses, dance a bit and smile sweetly!
