Manoj Bajpai and Katrina Kaif may not share much screen space in Raajneeti, but the entire team of the Prakash Jha-directed movie had very good vibes during the film’s making.

It was quite evident when the ‘Raajneeti’ team was returning from Lucknow after a promotional event. When the in-flight shopping cart came their way, Katrina took fancy to a friendship watch. Noticing this, Manoj Bajpai got up from his seat and promptly bought the watch for her.

This left Ajay Devgan and director Prakash Jha staring blankly at each other. Why no gifts for us? they asked Manoj.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif today said that she opted to play a different role in Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’, wherein she portrays a politician, to break the image of being only a glamour girl.

When asked why she took up this film, after starring mostly in romantic films and comedies, Katrina said, “I wanted to do something different and ‘Raajneeti’ offered this chance.

My role in this movie is very different.”

The 25-year-old actress was in the city alongwith actors Ajay Devgan and Manoj Bajpai and director Prakash Jha to promote the film which is set to hit theatres on June 4.

Director Prakash Jha has an uncanny sense of humour. When asked by a scribe how he managed a power-packed star cast of young actors (Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif) and National Award winners (Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar) during the shooting of Raajneeti (Stills), the director replied, “The young actors would wake up at 5 O’clock in the morning and make tea for the National Award winners. They would sit on the floor, while the rest of us sat on chairs!”

Katrina Kaif, the firang bollywood babe who plays the character of Indu Pratap Singh in Prakash Jha’s upcoming ‘Rajneeti’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor, is all set to meet the young politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra after watching her mannerism and behavior through CDs and video clips before enacting the character.

Katrina wants to meet Priyanka Gandhi and other politicians like Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, congress leader Ambika Soni ,etc, to see if her portrayal of the character was perfect. Katrina also wanted to meet Sonia Gandhi, but due to busy scheduled of the congress president, she was not able to get a positive response on that count.

Katrina Kaif received a warm welcome at a media meet to promote her upcoming “Raajneeti” here Saturday evening, but the cold blast from the air conditioner had her shivering, until co-actor Arjun Rampal gallantly took off his coat and offered it to her.

Dressed in a short, sleeveless, pink dress, Katrina found it too cold at the venue.

“It’s way too cold here. It’s so cold!” Katrina was seen whispering to Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal on the stage.

Arjun Rampal has truly qualified to be in the list of the chivalrous lot. According to news doing the rounds, Katrina Kaif was helped by this young man at the press conference of the film ‘Rajneeti’.

At the conference, the air conditioning system was quite strong. This was troubling the cool Kat a lot. She even whispered to the other actors present at the meet about the strong air conditioning. To add to that, she had on a short dress, which was sleeveless, and that added to her woes. The event was graced by the presence of most of the cast of the film. Ranbir Kapoor,Manoj Bajpai,Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar .

Katrina Kaif is expecting a lot from her upcoming film Raajneeti. The actress is not yet known to win the awards for her acting but she eyes to win a National Award for her great performance in ‘Raajneeti’.

Surprisingly, in the film she has delivered very long dialogues in perfect Hindi perfectly. Apparently, the director Prakash Jha had devoted much time on getting her Hindi right and she was even given training from a Hindi-Urdu tutor.

She is hoping a lot from her hard work in the film where she has worked with the fine actors from the film industry such as Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpai and Naseeruddin Shah.
