It’s that time of year again when everyone is thinking about summer; meanwhile designers are already planning fall and winter clothing lines. Lakme and IMG Fashion have been coming together twice a year for Lakme Fashion Week. The week long event is said to take place to redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world. Well Lakme Fashion Week wanted to show that they have a fun side that remembers fashion started for many women when they were young girls. That’s why they wanted to hold an event that was both cutting edge and reminiscent of one of the most iconic dolls of childhood.

British-born actress Katrina Kaif, whose face will now adorn Barbie dolls, says contrary to what people believe her Barbie is not an Indian counterpart of the international brand. She also feels that in many ways it’s an endorsement of how kids connect with her.
“I’d call it a fun honour. To have your face on dolls that you’ve played with from childhood is quite flattering. We’ve been in negotiation for nearly six months. It finally came together for the 50-year celebration of Barbie,” said Katrina.

After the talks that Aishwarya Bachchan would be immortalized as a Barbie doll, there was speculation that Genelia D’Souza was considered too because of her doll like and younger face. Then suddenly it came out that Katrina Kaif would be the Barbie and she claimed that Ash was not in the running at all.
Katrina also went around telling whoever cared to listen that she’s the first Indian to get that privilege. Well, many ridiculed that claim of hers as she holds a British passport. And she might claim that she has nothing against Aishwarya and that she respects her and all that, but smart cookie Aishwarya isn’t one to stay quiet without clarifying things.
