Actor Imran Khan’s uncanny resemblance to ‘mamu’ Aamir Khan is unmistakable and his co-star Katrina Kaif says that the likeness freaks her out.

The 27-year-old model-turned-actress, who stars alongside Imran in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, says at times she feels she is talking to Aamir and not his nephew.

“He looks like Aamir, he sounds like him. At times I feel it is Aamir and not Imran that I am sitting with and talking to. It freaks me out completely,” Katrina said.

The actress will also be seen sharing screen space with Pakistani singer Ali Zafar, who made his Bollywood debut with the 2010 film Tere Bin Laden.

Katrina, who is donning a rockstar look in the film, says that Zafar was very impatient while teaching her to play the guitar.

“I learnt 10 per cent from Ali and the rest 90 per cent Farhan (Akhtar) taught me. Ali was so impatient with me. After playing for just five minutes, he’d expect me to pay like a rockstar. I couldn’t do that,” said Katrina, who was in the capital to promote the film, releasing on September 9.

The actress, who is seen smoking a beedi in the song Dhunki, says that it was choreographer Bosco from the Bosco-Caesar duo who taught her to hold the beedi.

“Imran and Ali both don’t smoke cigarettes, let alone beedi. So there is no way that they would have taught me to hold a beedi. It was actually Bosco who taught me to hold it while shooting the song,” Kaif said.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which marks the writing and directing debut of Ali Abbas Zafar, is a romantic comedy revolving around a love triangle.

Actress Katrina Kaif is upset with a report that she cancelled the shoot for Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan because her favourite make-up man Subhash was unavailable as he had booked his dates for Anushka Sharma.

Katrina, 27, said people should not pull her down by writing such false stories and should give her respect considering her contribution to the industry.

“That was something really disheartening. I am not that kind of person who ever stood up and says, ‘Look what I have done, look at me’ or asked for any kind of respect or recognition or walked around with any kind of ego.

“But when I see people stoop down to that level and write these kind of stories, that’s the only time I feel that I am not asking for recognition, but a little bit of respect after these years I have worked in the industry. Please don’t pull me down to this level,” Katrina told IANS.

The actress entered Bollywood in 2003 with Boom. Though Boom bombed, she went on to deliver hits like Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, Race and Raajneeti.

Releasing Sep 9, the directorial debut of Ali Abbas Zafar, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a comedy where Katrina is teamed up with Imran Khan and Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar.

The current favourite of YRF, Katrina, will be also seen in their Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan and Yash Chopra’s next undeclared directorial venture opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan. She has teamed up with Anushka in the latter.

“Anushka is a lovely girl, starting off her career now,” she said.

Katrina Kaif, well known for her persuasive powers, got producer Aditya Chopra to agree to shoot one extra romantic number with Imran Khan for the forthcoming ” Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” at the Taj Mahal.

Apparently, shooting at the Taj in the moonlight has been Katrina’s dream since her arrival in India. In fact, the actress says that her idea for the perfect wedding is to exchange vows at the Taj Mahal in the moonlight.

The unit, helmed by director Ali Abbas Zafar, left for Agra to shoot the song on Sunday. While Yashraj Films considers the Golden Temple in Amritsar to be lucky for them (almost all their recent films have had a sequence or two shot at the Golden Temple), it’s the Taj Mahal that Katrina Kaif considers lucky for herself. Ever since she shot a touristy song sequence for “Namaste London” at the Taj, Kat considers the monument not only the most romantic spot on earth, but also lucky for her career.

“Yeah, “Namastey London” was a turning point in my career. We shot a sequence of me accompanying Rishiji (Kapoor) and the rest of my family in the film, to the monument. That was my first visit to the Taj Mahal. Ever since then, I longed to shoot a romantic song there. So here I am!” Katrina said from Agra. No wonder then, that when Kat expressed her wish to Aditya Chopra, with whom she gets along like a house on fire, he was happy to oblige.
Added the actress, “It is the most romantic place on earth. A moonlight wedding at the Taj Mahal…Yup, that is my idea of a perfect marriage – with tradition and romance.” Kat got the cream in Agra, eh? Waah Taj!

According to a Mumbai Mirror source, Katrina’s co-star in the film, singer Ali Zafar, deserves the credit for getting Katrina to sing.

“Katrina was not really in the mood to try out something new. She has just started to get a grasp over her spoken Hindi. It was Ali who convinced her,” said the source.

Katrina has reportedly sung one of the four tracks composed by Sohail Sen, the other three having been sung by Ali Zafar.

Katrina’s character in the film plays guitar, which Zafar helped her learn.

Zafar used to carry his guitar to the set and practice in his free time. Katrina was often seen taking lessons from him.

Zafar says Katrina will feature on his next album.

“Yes, Katrina is very sweet and told me she would be a part of my album. I carry my guitar on the sets and she too is learning the basics. She will probably play it for my album.”

In the film Katrina plays Ali Zafar’s wife.

The Ali Abbas Zafar helmed film additionally stars Imran Khan who plays Ali Zafar’s brother.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who is currently filming Ali Abbas Zafar’s “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” in the Punjabi city of Patiala has been on the receiving end of a slew of marriage proposals.

Young men from all over the state have made their way to the down-to-earth Iqbal Inn where the film’s cast and crew is staying. And on being told the actress is away filming on location, a few asked to meet “Katrinaji’s parents” so they could negotiate an arrangement.

Arranged marriages are still extremely common in India.

At first, she said, she couldn’t figure out why Punjabi young men should be so forward. Afterwards, she said, she realised what the draw was.

“In Namastey London I played a girl who comes to Punjab with her parents, looking for a bridegroom. I think these gentlemen take my screen role too seriously,” she told Midday.com.

“It’s fun as long as the shooting doesn’t get disrupted or I am not intruded upon. These are harmless fans… at least most of them are,” she added.

But things got a little out of hand when a few enterprising lads showed up with gifts to seal the deal.

The bemused actress said she’s now forced to sneak in and out the hotel’s backdoor in disguise to avoid her fans.

That’s when the security was tightened around the otherwise sleepy hotel. “We’ve the local administration in Patiala providing us the security. And then we’ve our own security from Mumbai. So I guess it’s safe. Fortunately, the shooting is a little out of Patiala. Shooting in town would’ve been impossible,” she said.

The film, which is being produced by Aditya Chopra, also stars Imran Khan and Ali Zafar.

By now its common knowledge that Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif would be seen together in YRF’s forthcoming flick Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (MBKD). Directed by debutant director Ali Abbas Zafar, MBKD also stars Pakistani pop sensation Ali Zafar in a pivotal role. Shooting of the film has begun in full swing and we came across these on the sets images from the film.

MBKD is a musical romantic comedy set amongst upper middle class families in North India. It’s a topsy-turvy story which takes you on a fun-filled ride of humour and romance, where Imran falls in love with his brother’s dulhan. The first schedule of the film was recently completed in Pataudi. The film is likely to release in mid-2011.

It’s right when they say some things are ‘written’. Filmmakers have been trying their best to pair together Imran Khan, the new heartthrob of B-town with Katrina Kaif, the matchless beauty of the film industry. But two previous attempts to bring together the duo have come to naught.

But Katrina and Imran seems to have got third time lucky. The two have been roped in for a romantic movie to be produced by Yashraj Films and directed by first-timer Ali Abbas Zafar. Ali has been working with YRF for years and has assisted in films like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Tashan and Badmaash Company.

Ali has himself written the script of the new film which will go on the floors in a month’s time.

Previously, directors Sanjay Gadhvi and Dibakar Banerjee have tried to pair up Imran and Katrina. But Gadhvi’s film got shelved and Dibakar roped in Emraan Hashmi for his movie.

The casting coup became possible for YRF’s next because Dostana 2 has been postponed and Katrina had bulk dates, which she decided to give to the Yashraj project.
