Lara-Katrina insecure of Kylie

Bollywood’s first true-‘blue’ deep-sea adventure film Blue has been in news for both security and insecurity reasons relating to international singing sensation Kylie Minogue. Firstly it was Kylie’s security handled by television actor Ronit Roy that was making news. Then there were reports that costars Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif were insecure of Kylie’s presence in the film that could overshadow the Indian leading ladies.
Director Anthony D’Souza nonchalantly brushes off the rumours. “How can that be true? There is a song in the film where Kylie shares the screen with both the leading ladies Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif. If they were insecure, why would they have agreed to feature in the song?”
This is not the first time that the film has been in controversy over one actor being insecure with other’s footage. Earlier there were reports of Sanjay Dutt having problems with the director with Akshay Kumar getting more footage in the film. Seems like Anthony D’Souza has become prone to such rumours and has an indifferent attitude towards them now. “Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar were like two brothers. I faced absolutely no problems shooting with them. They were very cordial all through the film”, defends D’Souza.
Coming back to Kylie, does she have a special appearance in the film? “I don’t know how you define special appearance but Kylie has one song and some scenes in the film. She was always supposed to be a part of the script and not a last-minute addition as is being perceived by some. She plays herself in the film and has also recorded a song for the film.”
A R Rahman has composed the music of Blue with a very western feel to it. Kylie recorded the song earlier in London and has shot for the song in Mumbai. The nightclub number has been choreographed by Farah Khan while Manish Malhotra has designed Kylie’s outfit. Apart from Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif, the song also stars other lead members of the cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan.
With such a huge cast and big budget, did the magnitude of the film anytime put the debutante director under pressure? “There is always pressure on you while making any film, irrespective of its budget. Whether it’s a 5 crore film or a 50 crore project, you are bound to have jitters,” says Anthony. “It’s like saying only poor feel hungry and the rich don’t.
