Katrina Kaif: ‘Salman is a very dear person in my life

November 19th, 2008

Salman Khan’s romance with Katrina Kaif has been written and talked about for years but has never been seen by anyone. That will change with the release of Yuvvraaj on Friday, November 21, the first film to pair Salman and Katrina romantically.

Admittedly, the fans will see a make believe version of their romance, but we are thinking they will still love it. Extrapolation comes easily to those of us who love to follow the lives of others, doesn’t it?

Meanwhile, Katrina continues to maintain her studied and dignified silence on the subject.

“Salman is a very dear person in my life. People read, talk and write what they feel but beyond that I wouldn’t want to comment anything else on this topic,” she recently told TOI.

There is something that Katrina will clarify though, but it is about Yuvvraaj not Salman! Apparently, flacks promoting her and the film have gotten ahead of themselves, planting press stories that she learnt to play the cello for the film, citing it as a measure of her professionalism.

Katrina, however, remains refreshingly grounded.

“I did not learn how to play the cello, I learnt the body language of holding the cello and how to have the correct form. If I play that character, it should look correct. But yes, I learnt the basic way of playing it, and if I have to play a song it will not sound the same,” she laughs.

Katrina does not play coy when it comes to talking about Salman as a co-star. She is effusive in her praise for both Salman and Anil Kapoor in Yuvvraaj.

“They were fantastic! This was my fourth film with Anil Kapoor and he always amazes me with his body language and dialogue delivery in each of his films. And, Salman is unique in his way and so spontaneous in his acting. He wouldn’t do something he cannot relate to and will only take up something he believes in,” she says .

Yuvvraaj is a musical story of a fragmented family of three brothers Set in Prague and Vienna, this musical extravaganza tells a story of two brothers Salman Khan and Zayed Khan who are in desperate need of money, and have to woo their eldest brother, Anil Kapoor to share their inherited property left by their late father. The father in his ‘will’ had left the entire property worth billions to his eldest son Anil Kapoor, who is mentally undeveloped, challenged for his age, and is a tough nut to crack. The leading lady Katrina Kaif is a musician and the beloved of Salman Khan in the film. She plays the catalyst in this family drama through the echo of her music.
